If You Are Bored

If you are bored sometime you could go and check out this short little film clip that Scooter is in. BYU asked him to be in it and they paid him like a couple hundred bucks for one night of work so that was cool. I think he is adorable and does a great job. It was fun seeing how something like this comes together because neither of us has ever done any acting or filming before. The other people that are in it get kinda cheesy after he leaves, but I am still proud of him so I thought I would share. They filmed this like a year ago, but I was thinking about it today and thought I would give everyone the link. He would be super embaressed if he knew this was on here, but what the heck! he never comes on our blog - in fact, I don't think he would know how to look at it even if he wanted to! The Great Outdoors

And here are the promised hiking pictures. We took a fun hike near Leeds over Thanksgiving.

We couldn't help but notice this poor tree's resemblance to a dragon. We named it and then took a ride!

My mom and dad are so cute (and lucky for all of us that were with them got too hot and had to remove their matching sweatshirts! I swear that at some point my mom told us to never let her dress matching with my dad, but now we can't convince them otherwise. Good thing that it is just these Dr. Seuss sweatshirts that they hardly ever wear!).

We couldn't resist... But I must say that Rachelle looks like her cheerleading days have still not fully been forgotten. (Which is OK with me since she was a darling cheerleader.)

Some people like the outdoors more than others... (Andrea, I am sure you can picture the few minutes leading up to this. Hopefully, it makes you smile and probably laugh.)

Here is my wonderful husband enjoying the sun. Isn't he handsome!? We had a great time and it was fun to be able to have nice enough weather to go hiking at the end of Novemeber. I love St. George!

More Thanksgiving Fun!

Well... Scooter is off on another medical school interview, so I thought I would take this chance to post about more of our Thanksgiving adventures. My mom made an adorable new Santa Christmas tree highlighted along with the Thanksgiving table in this picture. Darling! I wish I could be as creative, but alas! I am a nerdy science type... and so is Scooter.... so our kids are doomed...

Scooter told my dad not to bother trying to remove the meat from the leg and put it on the platter. He wanted to do it the "manly" way and eat it right off the bone. Notice how my dad looks like he wishes that this had been his plan as well... P.S. This was the year that we discovered that the national show-dog championships (I'm sure that's not the technical term, but you know what I mean, right?) were on Thanksgiving. Has anyone ever seen the movie "Best In Show"? If you haven't you are really missing out! Anyway, I have a cold and just took some NyQuil, which is really starting to work, so i better sign-off and go to bed before I start writing really weird stuff. More on our Thanksgiving adventures to come!

New Hairdo?

My sisters and I had a lot of fun over Thanksgiving trying to decide on a new hairstyle for Scooter. Any votes? I think you can tell which one is his least favorite...

Sorry to all, but thanks for missing us!

OK, I knew that I desperately needed to post a blog when my cousin Gina called from Maryland today and mentioned that I hadn't posted one in a while, and then I came online and found other messages wondering if I was alive, etc. So, I have repented (yet again... haven't I done this before... hopefully this will be my last time...) and am posting. The last couple weeks I just haven't made time to post because I have been having so much fun with my darling husband. He has finally reached a point in his education when he is really sick of doing homework and studying all the time, so this last couple of weeks we have been doing all kinds of fun things that don't involve school at all. It has been a nice break. We even watched a scary movie, which we NEVER do because I am such a chicken and hate them so much, but on Halloween Scooter convinced me to go with him to see the old Alfred Hitchcock movie "Rear Window." He told me that there was no way that I could be scared because the movie was so old, no special effects, etc., etc., so I went with him. Well, as it turns out, they could make movies scary even without special effects and using only one set for the entire movie. It was really good though and I only had to close my eyes, plug my ears, and put my feet up on my chair for the last few minutes of it. I am also proud to say that I was not the only one that screamed and gasped.

More fall musings

I know that my last post was kinda about fall, but who could resist posting about it again when this is the view from the grocery store parking lot! I know that when we leave Utah in the next year I am really going to miss the mountains. It was one of things I really missed when we lived in Houston this summer.

Fall

This weekend Scooter and I went to campus to take the BYU Tree Tour (Scooter had to do it for one of his geography classes - we are nerdy, but not that nerdy!). Even though it was freezing we had a good time appreciating the beautiful campus - and yes, learning about the trees. Even though this time of year makes us both sad because it means it is getting cold, it really is beautiful. Here are some of our favorite pics.

Another interview!

Well... I apoligize that I got everyone all excited by starting a blog and then letting it go sadly neglected. I have resolved to do much better starting today. So for today's blog I wish I had something to say that was a little more different than the first blog, but I am so happy that I had to share our good news again. Scooter recieved an invitation today to go to interview for the MD/PhD program at Wake Forest in North Carolina! I'm so happy and proud of him. We visted that school this summer and loved the area and the people that ran the program so we are thrilled. The only downside to the interview is that it is the same week as his interview in Chicago so he will be gone a whole week. Anyone want to come keep me company??

Our first interview!

Well, after much nagging from friends and family we have finally started our blog. I am really excited to start it today because we have great news to post. My husband, Scooter, has been applying to medical school and we have been anxiously waiting to get some feedback from schools. Today we got some wonderful news - Scooter has been invited to interview for the Md/PhD program at both Rosalind Franklin in Chicago and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston! We are thrilled. Baylor is one o our dream schools so we couldn't be happier! Good job Scooter!
